HISTORY of Next Step Care Management Ltd

In 1990, various independent studies showed that a large percentage of street homeless Young People under the age of 25 had come through the care system - some reported as high a number as 1 in 3.

These concerns had also been raised time and time again with Next Step's Directors by a number of Social Workers they had been working with, and who had expressed a need for an independence training programme which would give young people a real feel for what to expect on their own, yet be a supportive enough environment for them to move on and learn safely from their mistakes.

During the following 3 years the founders of Next Step Care Management Ltd. spent time developing procedures, running several pilot programmes, seeking financial backing and contacting local authorities to introduce the Organisation.

The hard work paid off and Next Step was established in 1994.

The Next Step Care Management Ltd. is now recognised as an opportunity to offer real independence training for Young People within their local community.
